How does Beauty affect you?

Over the years I've come to understand beauty as a lens through which I see the world and relate to it. More recently, I realized that for me, it is actually a field all of us are immersed in, for the ways in which beauty can be integrally experienced (inside and outside & individually and collectively) - not only seen (out there). Beauty invades me as if to help me make sense of things. Of myself, my relationships, our roles in the world.

The other day I had the courage to simply be available and allow the magical flow of words coming through me. You see, it is not I who writes. I am the means through which words come into reality in this world, in pen & paper, finger touches on keyboard & screen, that kind of stuff. To me, this is Mystery embodied. Words and language that we can read and relate to and help us make meaning and memory of our lived experience.

What started out as a longing to write about Beauty, turned out to emerge as Beauty itself, talking to me.

A Letter from Beauty

Pay attention to me, she whispers. I am everywhere. Do you notice me?

I am here to nourish your soul. To fill you with spaciousness, comfort and peace. To slow you down a little, if you would just let me.

There's so many ways I dress myself up for you. So many textures, colors, means. Sometimes I come as a fragrance, while others as memory and taste.

You can find me in Movement, in how I disguise myself as the wind gently shaking the tiny green leaves you see in the forest, and in the flower vase next to your chair.

Sometimes you'll find me up in the sky, while clouds move slowly and forever change their shape, colors and weight, offering softness, calmness and breath.

Other times you'll find me in stillness, in the mountain range you see from afar, over a rocky summit, through the window or on a photograph.

How many times have you longed to find me, to have me, to be with me?

When will you realize I am already everywhere you're looking for, and that I was born with you?

I have you! I am a field you can inhabit. If only you would open up. If only you stopped to notice me. To experience my impact on you. You would be surprised to see me everywhere, and in everyone around you.

Welcome me in, and I'll tell you a secret.

Through your eyes, your heart and your senses, others will notice that I exist and am part of them too. My power and magic are such you will mirror me back to everyone else.

I am your partner. Your friend. Your lover.

I am a place you can rest. Because I have you, you are safe with me.

You will breathe through me. Experience life as me.

I live within you. And through you I will make myself known to all those you touch.

I will enter their hearts, their beings, their souls.

As I have entered you.

You see, I need you. I can't exist without you. You are one of the zillion ways that I am.

I unite you with all there is.

You will grow to find me even in the dark. When all of your fears arise.

When suffering seems to be all there is.

And when you find me there, everything will shift for you.

You are a mirror to me. I see me inside you!

In the courage it took you to simply keep walking, keep searching, and asking the questions.

I live in the answers you will never find. And when you realize that, wow...

Explosions of peace will become you.

Do you see we are one? I have always been there with you.

And I have lovingly waited for you to be willing to greet me.

Reclaim me. Wear me. Love me. Be me.

I am a way to wholeness.
